Haircut..5 inches gone!

Grace got a haircut today by our neighbor Heidi. The last time she had a haircut was probably 6 or 7 months ago! Way too long!
It looks so much healthier and thicker.

Loving the Innocence

When AJ cleaned up his room and made his bed this morning he put a little stuffed animal on the pillows. I love that he still does things like that at the age of 8. Reminds me that even though he is full of independence, he still has traits that bring out the innocence in him.

Art Extravaganza...or Maybe Not...

At RES there is an Art Extravaganza every year where the students have their favorite artwork  displayed. The kids get all dressed up fancy to show off their creative side to their parents. Grace had been talking about this for days and days. The day finally arrived and we got her outfit picked out, her hair curled, and a *little* eyeshadow and lip gloss to fancy her up. These pictures show her excitement!
But...moments before we were leaving she complained of a stomach ache. We waited a while, and tried to make the drive to school and then halfway there she said she wanted to go back home. She ended up getting a stomach bug and didn't make get to go. She was crushed!

This was taken with my phone, so sorry for the poor quality. This girl was so sick she fell asleep in the bath tub. I sat with her and read my book until she woke up about 15 minutes later.

We {heart} Having My Mom Here!

Having my mom come for a visit is wonderful in so many ways! It seems as the kids get older and we get busier, I am not as good with taking pictures as I have been in the past. We enjoyed my mom's visit so much and look forward to it every year!
Every Friday night, Jason and I do a tapas night. It was fun to have my mom here to join in our special nights.
She was in charge of picking out the menu items. She chose: red pepper and artichoke tortilla, garlic sautéed mushrooms, proscuitto and goat cheese wrapped asparagus. We also picked up what seems to be our favorite lately: any sort of Spanish wine.

On Sunday we took a nice hike around our village. The views from the top remind me how much I love living in Germany.

I cherish the times she spend with the kids. It is so special to them!

Kennedy Rose Scherden

After months of waiting...
Chris and Shannon welcomed Kennedy Rose Scherden into the family on March 2nd.
She was born at 1:32 a.m..
weight: 7 pounds and length: 19 inches long
We are so happy for the both of them! I know Chris and Shannon are going to make a wonderful mom and dad team to Kennedy.
We look forward to meeting her when we get to Michigan on June 14th!

G Sleeping

Grace tends to like it quite dark when she sleeps. When she was an infant she would pull the blanket over her eyes to make it dark.
Now, I guess the hat does the trick too!
