Father's Day

Happy Father's Day!
It was a beautiful day with sun and blue skies.
The kids made Jason a banner to hang in the dining area.
The cards we made for Jason. We have become a "no card" buying family and only make and write cards. It is so much more fun for them to get creative!
After church and lunch at one of our favorite places, Hotel Degen, we walked to the zip line park by our house and played for hours.
We played soccer,
 rode on the zip line,
had a family baseball game,
and played with friends.
The day was special in so many ways. We loved having Yaya here celebrate this Father's Day with us.
Jason finished off the day by watching the US Open until the wee morning hours.
All in all it was a fantastic Father's Day here in the Scherden home!

To the Fathers in My Life

Happy Father's Day!
I am so thankful for the wonderful men I have in my life who are fathers.
Dad,
Thank you for being such a wonderful dad to me. I am so thankful for your guidance, teaching, patience in the past years and your sense of humor. You are truly special in so many ways. It's never a dull moment having you as a dad that's for sure. I'm proud to call you my dad!
Jason,
You are an amazing father to Jackson and Grace. I love seeing you interact with them, play with them and spend quality time with them because you want to, not because you have to. We are only 7 years into this parenting thing...but I think you are doing a wonderful job so far. I am so proud of who you are!
Lee,
You are my big brother with four beautiful children. I know I don't get to see you as a dad much, but what I do know is that you are a head strong father figure for your family. I love being able to talk to you about parenting issues and our kids. It's special having that bond with you!
You have been my "dad-in-law" for almost 10 years now and I am so thankful for it! You are quick to make a joke, lend a hand (even over the phone), and make anyone's day brighter. Thank you for being the best father-in-law a girl could ask for.

I love all four of you and thank God for each of you daily!

First/Last day of First Grade

Hard to believe another school year has gone by!
It's even more hard to believe AJ will be in second grade next year.
We are ready for summer break in the Scherden home. Nothing like sleeping in, not having to make lunches first thing in the morning, doing homework, and rushing out the door to school.
The kids are so excited for all the exciting visitors and travels we have planned this summer.

June Bug Out at RES

It is that time of year again and the kids have been so excited for June Bug Out.
The school puts on a highly organized outdoor party for the kids with 23 different stations that they stay at for 15 minutes each. They play games, meet with the firemen and talk about fire safety and dance to name a few.
Before the games began me and Grace hung out in Jackson's class while they did their morning work.
Here they are talking about how temperatures effect different types of compost.
 Here is their chart:
Part of their morning work in the classroom.
(I had Jackson translate it for me.)
Lining up to go to the games!
 Jump rope!
 Beating up the bad guy

 Chalk time!
 Dance party!

During this part the kids made a big circle and Jackson went in the middle. He danced and everyone had to copy his dance. He was so funny!!
Leaving with souvenirs from the day.
It was a beautiful, fun day for everyone!

Last Baseball Game

Jackson's last game was on Friday. He enjoyed this coach pitch season so much! This boy is a little slugger and lately has not been able to get enough of baseball. He is usually outside with a glove and ball in hand.
Here are some shots of the game.

Lon came to see his last game. Grace was so excited!

Born in the U.S.A.

Grace had her dance recital today after many months of dance class with Mrs. Kate.
The theme for the show was "Celebrate America" and Grace's class danced to the song 'Born in the U.S.A.'
She was so excited and had been talking about it all week. Last night during her prayers she asked for God to help her do good on stage.

Once I figure out how to get the video to download, I'll be sure to post it.
She did so well and was not intimidated by the hundreds of people in the audience.
She kept on saying after, "I did so amazing up on stage!"
Yes, Grace you did...we are so very proud of you!
